IAEA-S-1 is the primary calibration material on the VCDT scale for δ34S.
IAEA-S-1* silver sulfide was prepared by B. W. Robinson (Lower Hutt, New Zealand) based on sphalerite provided by S. Halas (Lublin, Poland).
Its δ34S value is taken as the VCDT scale-definition and therefore bears no associated uncertainty [1, 2, 3]. The material is often used for δ33S calibrations, but this value is not officially agreed.
